At Being Counseling, we believe in the healing power of both science and the art of self-expression. As a licensed provider in Pennsylvania, we are trauma-trained, utilizing proven methods like Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Mindfulness-Based Techniques to increase your awareness and understanding of how events in your life may shape challenges you currently face.
Currently, we specialize in treating men with living with anxiety and grief and loss and have experience treating men, women, and people who identify as queer. We use an integrative approach drawing on Internal Family Systems (IFS), Nature Informed Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. Our owner and primary clinician, Brenton Mitchell, is also trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and accompanying people experiencing grief and loss. While he specializes in treating men, we accept clients of all sexes and genders.
Our individual counseling services are designed to help you overcome personal challenges and achieve your goals. Our licensed counselors provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain insights into your behavior, and develop strategies for positive change.
"Nature Informed Therapy (NIT) is an innovative approach that integrates the healing power of nature with evidence-based therapeutic practices. Grounded in Ecopsychology, NIT addresses the mental health impacts of nature disconnection by fostering deeper relationships with the environment, oneself, and others. While most health and healing practitioners have established models of human function, NIT adds a foundational layer by incorporating nature into these approaches, enhancing emotional healing, resilience, and personal growth.
A core goal of NIT is reciprocity—forming a healing relationship with individuals that empowers them to care for and heal the planet, creating a mutually beneficial cycle of well-being for both people and the natural world."
Brenton Mitchell is a certified nature informed therapist through the Center for Nature Informed Therapy.
Consultation can be a powerful tool for individuals, organizations or teams to explore possibilities for overcoming challenges.
Also trained as an applied sociologist, Brenton brings his experiences as an instructor in small group problem solving courses, community building facilitation, and mental health to support a collaborative and customizable response for complex challenges.
We are not a crisis service. If you are experiencing a life threatening emergency visit your nearest emergency room. In the event of a mental health crisis please text or call 988.
